It is well known that type 2 diabetes an endocrine disease. Among glucose-lowering medications, α glucosidase which a membrane bound enzyme at the epithelium of small intestine catalyses cleavage glucose from disaccharide are effective for delaying absorption. i.e., inhibitors delay absorption ingested carbohydrates, reducing postprandial glucose. Pancreatic α-amylase key in digestive system and initial step hydrolysis starch to mixture smaller oligosaccharides consisting maltose, maltotriose number a-(l-6) a-(1-4) oligoglucans. These then acted on by alpha-glucosidases further degraded absorbtion enters blood-stream. Degradation this dietary proceeds rapidly leads elevated PPHG (post-prandial hyperglycemia). has been shown activity HPA (human pancreatic alpha-amylase) correlates increase post-prandial levels, control therefore important aspect treatment diabetes. a-amylase offer strategy lower levels hyperglycemia via breakdown. By study Herbal extract demonstrated potent inhibitory both enzymes.
